Hold on, a rock festival serving tea and cake?
This started last year when Claire Mear was desperate for a cup of tea, she suggested it to Tim Perry Quartz who said..."Ooohh yer go on!" They both enjoyed it so much, she insisted we made it mandatory! The cake bit is just so British, so, why not. We will be serving " a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake" both days at Mearfest. (To be served around 5pm Cost £2.00) Please keep the cakes coming, as we have ten wonderful cakes donated so far from chocolate fudge to lemon drizzle, Coffee and Walnut and of course the classic Victorious sponge!

Ever supportive, ever kind in heart, every generous with their time and goodies. WE LOVE YOU ALL Bilk Gang, Sylvain Steve Cotté, David Gang, Malo Gang Je vous remercie ! GANG will be rounding the night off on Saturday 1st June 2019. Please stay to the very end and see them perform. You will not be dissapointed! 15th May 2109 we all went to the most moving yet vibrant funeral. To say farewell to Jeff Fuller. Brian had been friends with Jeff for many many years. Through the ambulances and musically. It was an ambulance service send off like no other I have ever attended, sadly we have attended many over the years. It completely represented who Jeff was as a person. Everyone wore colour and bonkers hats. Jeff arrived shrouded with a service flag, with an incredible wreath made of vegetables and shrubbery it looked yummy. Escorting him to his final place of rest were vintage ambulances and service motorbikes blue lights flashing, followed right on time by the air helicopter, while hovering above us it dipped its nose in respect. On the ground everyone had something to bang as he was aLso a talented drummer. The sounds of a hundred or so people banging drums symbols rattles, gave me goosebumps, which turned into tears. I will never forget how I held Amélie close, grateful she was here, alive and with us both. Remembering how desperate I felt at my own daughter Molly's funeral now nearly six years ago. We both watched daddy banging his snare drum with such passion and love, we jumped up and down to the mighty collective tribal sounds of friends, family and south central ambulance staff, Amélie squealed, she absolutely loved it. I didn't take photos out of respect, but photos were taken, which I am so excited to see soon. But this is one I took of Amélie In her ELVIS LIVES t-shirt, keeping the spirit of rock and roll alive in Jeff. Hev my love, you did Jeff proud. God bless from everyone at Mearfest. PHOTOS ANTHONY MORRIS JEFF FULLER AT MEARFEST 2011 HERSHALL ARMS We received another bundle of joy this morning from Jeff and the band TROYEN TROYEN have consistently supported us from day one on our NWOBHM journey They are a fantastic live band and although they can't play for us in June they will be joining the party in October at our final show in Newcastle. Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts. About 18 months ago Troyen decided to re record their 1981 anti war classic Don't Send Me To War. They started recording but with technical issues and line up changes they didn't finish it and the project was scrapped. Earlier this year with the new line up established they decided to re record it and include it on their new EP which will be out in early July.....
This is the finished product. 38 years on the message is the same "Don't Send Me To War" We chose not to remember her with flowers Or by marking time in minutes and hours Her life unlived is honour bound By shining lights and thunderous sound And when the memorials fade away We can with truth so proudly say Our Angel of dreams, her tiny hand Is held on high across the land In nations far beyond our own That symbol now is widely known So turn up the sound and light the stage As we turn again another page Fire up the amps right up to ten Our stillborn child will live again BY BRIAN MEAR Wondrous donated collectables have arrived at MEARFEST HQ
