We had heard through the metal drums, that a Mearfest t-shirt had been spotted at a Nitroville gig.
But of course Molly was at this gig! Gemma Salliss and Tola Lamont from Nitroville met up and happy hugs were exchanged. This is what Mearfest is all about. THANK YOU LADIES Wear Molly, meet your heroes. Ian has been a loyal and trusted Mearfest friend and photographer
for our North East event last year. Ian wears Molly But we know he was already a true legend. Today on the 21st March we celebrate world Down Syndrome Day, why to day ? It is because of the 1 extra chromosome = 21. Molly Mear had Down's, we were given the news at 23 weeks gestation and we did battle all the what if's, how are we going to cope? Since her passing we have seen that Down's babies, children and adults are exceptional people, full of love and laughter. If she had lived we wouldn't have changed a thing. Today is for Molly and all her unique friends. (In Loving Memory) A beauty never seen Just ‘What could have been.’ So many tears No ‘Mummy’ or ‘Daddy’ To soothe the ears A room left bare Just shadows there Lives upturned and shaken So much taken No one understands Bring on the bands Let eyes awaken Hope not forsaken Take time to stare At the banner there Share the tears Open your ears Imagine where they have been And with them stand In front of her hand By Steve Ellis Into The Blue Dedicated to Brian and Claire Mear On the eve of Mearfest South August 12th 2016. Of late I am feeling that Mearfest is becoming something very interesting, it is starting to develop its own pathway to a more creative, expressive, original, sharing, caring & giving destination.
This piece of brilliance is by the artist Angela Holland-Yousaf. Brian saw her work online and asked if she would come up with something just for us. This is incredible, as she has captured the essence of who we are. By using her own daughters as inspiration and her interpretations of the powerful words of the mighty STEVE ELLIS from Into the Blue, this poem he wrote for us in 2016. We are both so excited about this piece. Its just so beautifully done. THANK YOU ANGELA If you feel inspired to do something for us, please just ask, you never know where it may lead. Amelie
Here’s my hand print, it’s very small Unlike my sister Molly’s it's hardly known at all My fingers on the outside are short, but the middle one is tall Molly My handprints are on shirts, where people rock and roll I hang on banners high and touch both heart and soul Amelie You will find mine on windows and sticking to the wall They will make a great big mess, from someone so very small Molly Mine are on record covers and even on a song You told the world about me and all that went so wrong Amelie So here is one from me mummy, that you can’t wipe away A Present from both your daughters, on this your Mother’s Day Molly I will always love you mummy, I’ll be here in your heart and just like baby Amelie we will never be apart. By Daddy (Mothers Day 11th March 2018) The happiest yet. Worth the pain & the wait. Chris Ockenden
