Last night we were asked to attend the NHS Thursday night clap for Repps and Bastwick Village in Norfolk. Over the past 8 weeks IKON a small event company based just outside the village have put out two Emergency Vehicles a day. Through the worst Pandemic in living memory they have assisted the East of England NHS Crews in responding to every type of Emergency call imaginable. I have been proud to have been a part of this small team. What they have lacked in experience has been more than made up with in enthusiasm, bravery and bloody hard work. It's been an emotive time for me, I didn't really want to return to this work its shattering and so demanding on your mind and body. The contract has come to an end and hopefully the company will survive and take up its role in providing event cover for the people of Norfolk We went together as a family last night To join in the clapping and for photos etc I'm far left holding Amelie We went together because we have faced the dangers of every shift I covered together. Sometime in April I posted a photo of Amélie on one of our lockdown walks. She is gazing out to the sea and she noticed our dog Mr Blue was sniffing around a few other dogs. She said "Mummy Blue has many friends, why don't I have any friends?" This broke me. We had just moved to Cromer and not long after she had started her new nursery, we went into lockdown. As Brian was the only key worker in the household, working every hour, she had to stay home. So she had not got to know any new kids and I had no chance to meet other parents. I put a plea out on Facebook, for anyone to send her a birthday card for her 3rd birthday. We were inundated with kindness. Over 350 cards came through the door, over a 3 week period. She was elated, so was I. We have some great people connected to Mearfest. I want to THANK every single person who bothered to send her a card or gift. We had parcels delivered daily from a well known online company.Sadly some came with no note from who they were from. THANK YOU to you all. It really cheered us all up, and the house felt alive. We managed to have our neighbours social distance in our garden, and we all played party games. Amélie Loved it ! Random acts of kindness go a very long way. These picks have been kindly donated as part of our giveaway packs that come with your t-shirt orders. Thank you to Ian Purvis for your kindness.
