We three Mear's had the best family day out at Stonedeaf festival, It was arrange very very last minute but we got there in the end. Unfortunately we could only stay a few hours but it was packed with a lot of fun. A MAGICAL THANK YOU to Diamond Head for the kind invitation and passes. A HUGE THANK YOU to Chris Sumby and his team for a fantastic day. Chris has been very supportive of Mearfest for almost two years, donating festival tickets for our shows, this year they were won (at our last June event 1979 revisited) by your favorite and ours Mr Nick Grimley, here he is at the front with Stuart his friend, watching Diamond Head, which he tells me are his all time favorite band. Glad we could be of help Nick! CONTINUING TO MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE Chris and his team work incredibly hard to make their one day, one stage festival work. We were made very welcome by everyone involved, meeting so many Mearfest folk. We made new friends. Watched some amazing bands like the wonderful Diamond Head, bring the Lightning to the nation's. Their set was so good they had a C47 Dakota plane do a fly over just as they finished. It the most supersonic end to a show! There's Nick Grimley right at the front, alongside from Molly with the mighty Karl Wilcox Chris and his team have created something truly amazing, it was so well organised, all staff were helpful, smiling, informative, they all showed pride in the day. The food was really great, with a nice variety of healthy options. Toilets clean. The whole site was tidy. Lovely people from everywhere. Thank you to the kind man who gave us his green kids ear defenders for Amélie as we forgot ours. Thank you to everyone who let us sit in their fold up chairs in the shade with Amélie as it was roasting, she managed to have a great day. Please get along next year because this is a gem of an event Incredibly welcoming, professional, entertaining Great value, Great Bands, great food and merchandise stalls, and a fantastic signing tent for bands to meet the public. Here is my good self handing over one of our t-shirts to the amazing Brian Tatler from Diamond Head, who has donated many items to our Mearfest raffles. Hey look, in the distance is that mega fan fella John Slim. THANKS STONEDEAF FOR THIS AMAZING PHOTO And our old friends the Stormtroopers, you can not have a festival without them! Below is a photo of the campsite the next morning, they barely had one full bin liner of rubbish to pick up off the floors, and just the one abandoned single man tent that was folded neatly by the bin. Rock fans also joining in the Eco warrior tribe of great Earth people. TILL NEXT YEAR FOLKS!
