Saxon Davis – Kaine
Well Mearfest 4 was absolutely incredible! Big cheers and congrats to Brian and Claire Mear for putting on such a successful event, very proud to have been a part of it all!
Vince High – Mythra
Mearfest 4 was an absolute blast. Great music, great people, great cause. From the very first time I saw Brian and Claire’s post about fundraising for The Willows Support Group I was drawn to it. I don’t know why but it just resonated with me. It’s an honour and privilege to know Brian and Claire. My band Mythra, like many other bands, have been very happy to help support them in their fundraising. We will continue to do so into the future. They are awesome people!

What a day yesterday was. Mearfest4 was an awesome event at the iconic Borderline which we were really honoured to be part of. A massive thank you to Brian and Claire for having us you really did do Molly proud. We’d like give a big thank you to Kevin Riddles, Vince High and Alex Perry for all the back stage and tech support, to ALL the Mearfest crew for making the day what ir was and all run smoothly.
We’d also like to thank all the lovely DJ
Dawn King and the bands Not Fit For Humans, Kaine, Sacrilege, The Deep and Desolation Angels who all rocked the place. It was great to meet the voice that is Tony Coldham,Dean Charles Archer, Clive Pearson, Robin Brancher and Mark Taylor and to see Ceridwen Gruffydd (enjoy the drum stick) and the legend that is Patrick from Belgium again. We had a blast…..thank you all
Mark Taylor – Metaltalk.net
An excellent evening of authentic banger and mash metal for the Mearfest at The Borderline …. Pleasantly surprised to see the venue packed out for a night of unfashionable metal, especially when so many are up at Bloodstock Festival.  Desolation Angels, The Deep both delivered , sadly I missed youngsters Kaine, not realising the early stage time , but I was most impressed from two highly overlooked bands from the NWOBHM era with melodic hooks from Troyen and an ear splitting performance from the mighty Sacrilege
Gaye Delasalle
Best night … bands were awesome met some more wonderful people
Thank you Claire and Brian Mear … was one heck of a night .

Chris MacKinnon – Kaine
Tonight was exactly what I want to experience every gig as a musician.
Fantastic people, phenomenal response, great other bands and for a brilliant cause.
I can’t thank Brian and Claire enough, you did such a great thing today, and I can’t wait until the next one!
Kerry Hancock
Had a fantastic night at Mearfest 4 last night. Some great bands but mostly as the atmosphere was brilliant.. Claire and Brian Mear are two amazing people.
Steve Montgomery
Just about recovered from our trip last night into London….Mearfes t4 was a great night ….met some new people and some old friends…my back aches feet are throbbing but an awesome night Claire and Brian….well done for putting on such a fantastic gig
Keith Salliss
Don’t know what to say! Brian Mear Claire Mear YOU GUYS ROCK! This was our first Mearfest. You should be so proud, and everyone who helped put this awesome night together. Plus all the bands Sacrilege Desolation Angels Kaine The Deep Troyen Not Fit For Humans Plus the lovely DJ Dawn King We Thank You All ….
Tony Coldham – The Deep
Mearfest 4 was a spectacular success so pleased for Brian and Claire. Big thank you to everyone behind the scenes who all did a sterling job of keeping it all running smoothly. Great to see so many friends there and especially nice to make new friends. Wonderful, wonderful evening 😊
Bill Beadle – Sacrilege
What a Great and emotional Event Mearfest was on Saturday. We would like to thank Brian and Claire for having us (Sacrilege) and the other great bands that also played, Not fit for Humans, Kaine, Troyen, The deep and Desolation Angels.
I hope the sell out crowd at the Borderline will return next year for Mearfest 5 as this is a charity gig that deserves full support from everyone.
The event also couldn’t and wouldn’t have run so smoothly without the help of many people including Kevin Riddles, Alex Perry, Dawn King, and Vince High, not forgetting the Lovely Gosha who looked after all the bands.
I must also mention a few people in the crowd that made it special and apologise if I haven’t mention you personally but so many to thank.

Rage Sadler – Kaine
If that was Kaine’s last ever gig, I would be fine with that. A truly perfect night.
Not fit for humans
Well, Mearfest 4 – what a night! Big thanks to everyone who came down and supported such a great cause.
Big respect to Brian and Claire Mear for putting on such a great night.
Cheers to all the bands that played – especially Kaine for lending us their amps – true gents.
Thanks to Dawn King for spinning tunes as well.
Lastly a huge thanks to all the unsung heroes who worked backstage and made it all go smoothly -that’s Kevin Riddles, Alex Perry Mythra and Jon Wilmer Chinnor bike fest – you guys were amazing.
Troyen
It was a privilege and an honor to be part for this amazing event, Great cause, Amazing line up and great people, it really was our pleasure
Ben Colton – Neverworld
Got to say well done for the other night, you guys nailed it!
Dawn Goodwin – The Willows Support group
Thank you Brian and Claire for choosing Willows as your chosen charity for Mearfest 4. It goes without saying that the evening was amazing. It was great to be a part of something so special. Thank you for raising awareness and supporting Willows. Much love xxx
Colin Murden
An absolutely fantastic gig that ran like clockwork. The hard work that Brian, Claire, and all the other people who helped behind the scenes put in paid dividends and it showed from the start right through to the finish. I’ve been to bigger and supposedly professionally run one day festivals that haven’t run as smoothly as Mearfest4. The crowd were brilliant, the line up was perfect, the cause was a very special one and the money raised was fantastic.
Brian Mear RE: KAINE
“I LOVE THIS BAND  ! (Kaine)” said Claire’s surrogate “Dad” Mike Newling who came to Mearfest. He’s well in his Seventies, open minded and still looking tip top
I lost him for a while and when I found him he said that after seeing KAINE he went outside for a fag and had a beer with them. Mike told me that in his long life he said he had only been shocked and delighted by music once before when as a young man he saw a huge Classical concert.

Meanwhile my son’s Girlfriend Charlotte some 50 odd years younger has also has never seen a metal band in her life, yet she was seen to be dancing and throwing horns to the sky! So many people from all walks of life were all rocking out to Kaine, it was their best gig EVER.
DJ Dawn King – The Metal Priestess
It was great to see a collection of bands working so hard to achieve what they have. If NWOBHM is a dying genre as some people believe, and after Mearfest 4 I seriously doubt that, then the guys in these bands are doing their best to keep it alive.
All in all Mearfest 4 was a total and utter success. Selling out the 300 capacity and raising £4,000.00 for The Willows Group, Brian and Claire Mear should be extremely proud of what they achieved. They have worked tirelessly for over a year to make sure this event was as great as it was, despite their grief and they truly have turned “loss into legacy”
Here’s to Mearfest 5!!

When I first heard of Mearfest 4 I knew this was going to be special.  A NWOBHM Charity event in aid of the Willow Support Group for still born babies. People react different to disasters in their personal life’s, but the way Brain and Claire Mear turned their loss of Molly into legacy inspires and asks for respect.I suggest reading of Molly’s story on the Mearfest.com site for understanding a bit of the emotions behind such loss.
Our Molly was called Taina and she would be a beautiful (if pushing her mom) 12 year old now. We experienced also the unprepared hospital, to deal with such a loss on a department where other babies are born. Combining this story with the fact that 6 NWOBHM bands would play I had to either go and see or just donate.
During the day I did ran into several known people and faces. While I expected the Rock Den crowd, the bigger surprise to them and me was running into Progpower’s Mario and Luigi this time in civilian outfit though.
Thanks to Brian and Claire for organizing this day. Next year a follow up is in the plans and I shall make an effort to be there again.
