This is a beautifully written biography that you will not just read, but you will walk Claire’s life journey alongside her. I can guarantee you will not want to put it down until you get to the end and then you will be left asking “what happened next?” Make sure you have the tissues to hand because you will cry and laugh a lot!
I had first known about Amelia Grimmett when Brian tried his best to book her husband Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper, for our very first Mearfest in 2016 in London’s Borderline. Amelia is Steve’s wife and was his manager, at the time Steve was on various tours all over the world. A few months later, in January 2017 while touring South America, Steve was struck by a sudden illness, where he was taken into hospital. His leg needed amputation, which was devastating to everyone involved. Amelia was there for him throughout the most challenging of times. Brian and I had to help the only way we knew how to, by donating some money raised at our second Mearfest in Newcastle, to go towards Steve’s recovery. From then on friendships between us were forming, out of a genuine appreciation of our personal misfortunes.
We invited them both to Mearfest South in 2018, where Steve would perform one of his best songs, ‘See you in Hell’, with a young North-East band Culloden. This is when I met Amelia for the first time and liked her immediately. They both spent the whole 12 hours with us, signing, selfies, shaking hands, hugging fans, mainly my husband Brian, who was notably thrilled by their attendance.
I asked Amelia to read this book in its more primitive format and to give me some honest feedback; as I knew she has been through quite a lot of incredible challenges in her lifetime. She has suffered losses on a deep level and with her work with the church; she always wants to help others in need. Her opinion on my writing meant a lot to me, as she is such a strong, resilient, decent, creative woman of substance, who I respect hugely. She manages her own creative outlet on etsy please check her out. Creativemillie
