After a very challenging couple of years since 2020, where we managed to raise £6,300 for SANDS without holding an single live event. However, today I personally feel I need to lay Molly to rest. In her name we have raised a staggering £35k for all kinds of charities, for which we could not be prouder, but we have a living miracle daughter Amélie whose life is now very full and active as she is at school and soon to turn 5 in May. As a mother I need to focus my time and energy on Amélie and us as a family unit.
So, in 2022 we are changing Mearfest, our last event in the name of our stillborn daughter Molly Mear will be held on the 1st May 2022, at Trillian's in Newcastle. Over these past six years we have donated every penny we have raised to our various charities, including ploughing all of our time and a lot of our own money into what ever we do, without ever claiming any of it back....(money raised is listed on our main website page.)
This has been very rewarding on many levels, how can something so devastating as giving birth to a sleeping baby helped bring so many people from all over the world together and be so empowering for all connected? But sadly, it has also taken its toll on our spare time, my health and our own finances. We have annual ongoing running costs and this year Brian and I want to focus on new projects as just Mearfest or The Flame Still Burns, be it a new form of event or our combined writing. Any money raised from now on will go to support Mearfest future projects.
you can give a £1 or multiples of whichever denomination you prefer.
We wish to take this opportunity to thank you all.
Mearfest is evolving this is not the end, but a possible new beginning.
Turning loss into legacy.
Claire and Brian Mear.
